Job Duties:

Essential Functions

  • Support the mission, vision, and culture of the organization through positive communication and leadership.
  • Contribute to Community relationships by demonstrating cooperation and professional conduct with residents, families, fellow associates, physicians, pharmacies and other vendors or persons.
  • Contribute to team effort by being flexible in work assignments, by furnishing support by taking initiative; and by understanding how this position affects and compliments all other Community positions.
  • Able to maintain work pace appropriate to given work load. Perform activities on schedule while maintaining regular attendance and punctuality within specified tolerance.
  • Supervise resident care staff, provide training, set and adjust rates of pay and hours of work, provide formal and informal performance feedback, recognize both appropriate and inappropriate behaviors/performances through rewards and discipline, and apportion work among subordinates.
  • Interview residents and families prior to admission and coordinate pre-admission screening and assessment.
  • Evaluate resident care needs and determine required level of care upon admission and changes in condition.
  • Maintain clear records of all resident changes, requests, and irregularities.
  • Update medical charts and care plan.
  • Observe residents’ health status and take actions to address concerns within scope of practice.
  • Record and notify Executive Director, physician, pharmacist, and family of any significant changes to resident’s health status and/or reactions to drugs, treatments, or significant incidents.
  • Order medications from pharmacy, maintain records, and ensure that medications are properly stored and cared for.
  • Review and implement incident reports; evaluate for need of intervention to minimize risk of further occurrences.
  • Maintain records and files for residents, inventory, and supplies.
  • Maintain appropriate supplies at all time.
  • Provide quality assisted living program.
  • Implement orientation and education programs that explain the philosophy of service in accordance with Pacifica Policies and Procedures.
  • Schedule Personal Care Assistants, develop daily tasks, and make assignments.
  • Verify employee hours on time cards and payroll reports and arrange replacement staffing when necessary.
  • Monitor associates in administration of mediation, including frequent audits of medication records.
  • Interview and test job applicants.
  • Continually assess resident needs in relation to associate training needs to determine priorities in designing an ongoing orientation program.
  • Ensure that all new employees receive general and specific job training.
  • Incorporate State Department of Social/Facility Services/ Public Welfare/Licensure requirements during in-service training and orientation.
  • Participate in New Hire Orientation program and other regular associate meetings or functions.
  • Monitor and maintain records of immunizations requirements for associates and residents.
  • Track and ensure regulatory training requirements are met for associates annually.

Job Specifications:

Skill

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in business administration, hospitability, gerontology, or another related field.
  • This position may require current state license as a registered nurse or licensed nurse where applicable.
  • This position also requires 2-3 years of supervisory experience, prior care experience in an assisted living community or skilled nursing facility, and valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of State Assisted Living Regulations.
  • Able to speak, read, write and understand the English language fluently.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel for assessments and other outreach, automobile insurance as required by law and a valid driver’s license.

  • Adapt to situations requiring the precise attainment of set limits, tolerances, or standards.
  • Regularly required to sit and talk or listen.
  • Able to stand, stoop and bend frequently, lift up to 20 pounds and push up to 40 pounds. When lifting must use necessary safety equipment if applicable and apply safety training during lifting. Failure to use proper safety equipment will result in disciplinary action and grounds for termination. Also must have the ability to talk, hear, sit, use hands and fingers, handle/feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust the focus of the eyes.
  • Possess adequate physical stamina to move freely about the Community and assist residents where needed, including in emergency situations.
